Energy costs for your Base Home are an estimated starting point from which you can compare potential energy-saving measures. They are not to be used as a representation of what your specific costs might be as a result of the implementation of any or all of the energy savings measures. Your actual energy bill will be different from these estimates because this tool does not use your actual billing history. The calculator uses an average per kilowatt-hour charge to estimate your electric costs; this rate is a reasonable estimate, but not the exact rate structure, used to calculate your monthly electric bill. The rates used to estimate other energy costs are estimates based on rates in your area as well. The calculator uses actual weather and energy costs in your area. However, actual energy costs and savings are also affected by factors such as lifestyles and personal behaviors that are not considered by the HomeEnergyCalculator.
